Can you describe your role?
I am currently working as a project and programme support officer. My role is to review and update living project documentation in order to make sure that the things that should be being done are being carried out. My work includes reviewing completed milestones and figuring out if more milestones need to be captured. Also, reviewing risks that might affect the project and how to minimise their impact also falls under my remit. As well as this I act as secretariat for project meetings often chairing and writing actions/minutes. I often work with senior stakeholders to come to decisions and have an input on what is monitored at project level.
What do you hope to do after your apprenticeship is finished?
After the apprenticeship ends I hope to carry on working within the civil service and look into different departments possibly. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in HMRC and wish to stay in the field of project management.
What has been a highlight of working here?
Working in London has been brilliant, the amount of visibility of senior stakeholders and management here is much higher than I expected and everyone has been very welcoming. I'd say my highlight of working here has been the amount of real responsibility I was given from the start and being given the trust to make my own decisions.
